Performances Performances

The Lucan Concert Band has performed publicly and in competition around the country, and has travelled to England and Prague to play at international festivals. The Band has always been exceptionally well received. Recent national concerts have been performed in the National Concert Hall, Dublin Castle, Waterford, and Athlone, while in recent years the Band was one of the featured and major attractions at the successful Lions Club Annual Concert in the Lucan Spa Hotel. They also played at the Lucan Educate Together opening of their new school and have performed in Lucan Sarsfield’s GAA Club. Over the past few years the Lucan Concert Band has established a very successful series of concerts in Westmanstown and other venues where they have performed with other bands from around the country. In 2002, for example, they played there with Ardee Concert Band and Mullingar Town Band. In 2004 the Liffey Valley Orchestra joined the Lucan Concert Band on-stage, 2005 the Band were joined by the County Kildare Orchestra and 2006 saw them perform with Dublin Concert Band. IN 2006 the Band went down to Clonmel and had a concert with Banna Chluain Meala. In 2007 the Band played alongside the Band of an Garda Síochána in one of their most successful concerts, bringing an excellent series of concerts to the people of Lucan, and introducing the Lucan Concert Band to a wider audience. The Lucan Concert Band joined with Maynooth Brass and Reed in 2005 in NUI Maynooth for a joint concert and again in 2007 in Setanta House in Celbridge for a fundraising concert in aid of Temple Street Hospital.

In 2010 the Lucan Concert Band travelled to Kingscourt, Cavan and performed with the St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band and in 2011 the Band continued their support for Temple Street Hospital and performed at the Charity Fun Cycle in the Phoenix Park. The Lucan Concert Band has taken part in several charitable events also, including producing CDs for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland and our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross and is willing to partake in further events when requested. In June 2011, the Lucan Concert Band were joined by boys from St. Mary’s BNS, Lucan on recorder. This concert was a great success and acted as a way of recruiting young children into the band and moving onto different instruments. The boys from 2nd-5th class performed a number of pieces including ‘Five Jive’ and ‘Wet and Windy’ and were accompanied by the Band for ‘Here Comes Trouble’, ‘Mr. Cool’ and many more. The boys also showed off their artistic talents and created a picture slide show to accompany the Bands version of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. As well as the above mentioned concerts the Lucan Concert Band has performed in annually at Farmleigh in the Phoenix Park, as well as Castletown House in Celbridge.
